Chapters may apply for a special program grant to support an event(s) scheduled to occur in 2025. Grants range from $750- $3,000 (the average amount approved is $1,500). These grants are designed for larger-scale events that require funding outside the scope of a normal management grant. Examples include:
- Multi-day conference on optics and/or outreach
- One-day seminars
- Speaker series (outside of the scope of the Traveling Lecturer program
In order to request more than US$1,500, you must demonstrate that you have total sponsorship of your program sources outside of your university and Optica. You must also demonstrate that your other funding matches or is greater than the amount you request from Optica. Ex: If you request $3,000, you must show that other companies or organizations have sponsored at least $3,000 in addition.
We only consider special program grants that fund high-impact events at any dollar amount provided.
For any funding you receive through this program, the Optica Foundation should be credited appropriately as a sponsor.
